After reading the first section of the novel, identify who the narrator(s) is/are. Is your novel written as a flashback or is the story being told as it is happening?
Part 2:
Decide what over-riding themes you think the author portrays in his/her novel. Think big! Remember that a discussion about theme inevitably leads to a discussion about morals and message. By the end of the book, you should be able to talk about themes and what the author is trying to teach the audience. Keep that in mind as you begin formulating your thoughts about themes.
