After reading the second section of the novel, pick one major character. Use the following prompts to figure out the personality and character traits of this character:
· what a character thinks · what a character does · what a character says, and · what others say about a character Using these prompts, begin thinking about what type of person each of these characters is. You may want to include a visual representation of your character based on what you have learned about them thus far. Part 1:
After reading the first section of the novel, identify who the narrator(s) is/are. Is your novel written as a flashback or is the story being told as it is happening? Part 2: Decide what over-riding themes you think the author portrays in his/her novel. Think big! Remember that a discussion about theme inevitably leads to a discussion about morals and message. By the end of the book, you should be able to talk about themes and what the author is trying to teach the audience. Keep that in mind as you begin formulating your thoughts about themes. |
